The Goodies Co: April 2013

If you're unfamiliar with The Goodies Co monthly subscription box, I'm here to educate you. It's a monthly subscription box (a "Taster's Box") filled with 5-8 trial size samples of food products. The box is $7 a month and can be cancelled at any time or suspended. You are required to request an invitation. Mine took about four days to come in.

However, I did not pay for this box. It was given to me free to try out the box. I believe they're supposed to ship mid-month, but this didn't come until the end of the month.

I originally got an email saying I'd been charged the $7, then immediately got a correction email saying that was not accurate information. Then I received an email saying the shipment would be delayed.

All-in-all, I wanted my box, but I was happy with the customer service. I was kept informed of the progress and a post I made on their Facebook page was responded to within the hour.

Moving on -- Here's the goodies! The box was sturdy and pretty adorbs.

The box contained a Wai Lana Herb and Garlic chips, Angie's Sweet & Salty popcorn, Green Giant Sweet Potato Chips, Lady Walton's White Chocolate Amaretto Cookie, and Yellow Cheddar Gluten Free Cheese Sauce Mix, and a Zone Cookie Dough Protein Bar.

My favorite was by far the Angie's Sweet and Salty popcorn.

My second favorite was the Sweet Potato chips. They reminded me of Sun Chips! I already tried to find them in the grocery store, to no avail. Wahhhh.

So far, I think the box is worth $7 a month. Thus, I'm paying for a box this month! My only qualm is that in order to get free shipping on the products you order from the online store, you have to spend $40 (shipping is $5).

DISCLAIMER: This product review was not solicited by The Goodie Co. I am not affiliated with The Goodie Co or any other subscription service.  This review is an honest opinion of products I received with a first subscription box free of charge.

No-Bake Energy Bites [Pinterest Inspired]

Could I Pinterest you in -- No-Bake Energy Bites? It shouldn't take much convincing because they are AWESOME!

I found this recipe on pinterest, but it originated at Smashed Peas and Carrots -- and I'm so glad I stumbled across these!

I'm notorious for having a sweet tooth -- but when you're attempting to drop some poundage, picking up the nearest snickers would be heavenly is not the brightest idea!

These were super easy, incredibly tasty, and provide some nutritional value!

Here's the recipe:

1 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup peanut butter (or other nut butter)
1/3 cup honey
1 cup coconut flakes
1/2 cup ground flaxseed
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla

Start by taking your honey, peanut butter, and oatmeal and putting it into a bowl.

Then add some flax seed, coconut, and chocolate chips --

Finally - add the vanilla --

This is what you'll end up with --

Mix it well, and put in the refrigerator for a half hour -- this allows the mixture to set.

Remove from the fridge - roll the mixture to form your Energy Bites!

VOILA!! Enjoy.

Note: These should remain in the fridge for no more than a week [not that they'd last that long anyway -- so yummy!] Also, you can mix it up by changing the "Add ins" [use raisins, crushed nuts, etc.]

Happy Snacking!
