Whew! I've been riding a crazy roller coaster over the past few days. I've always heard that "bad things happen in threes" --- I don't know if I believe that after this week -- I'm working on number six!
The day after I made my last post about my sweet Lucy coming to VA with me,
she had to be hospitalized again. She started throwing up again on Thursday night, and Friday morning she wouldn't eat or drink water. I took her to the vet and they decided to hospitalize her to keep her hydrated. They also tested her for a liver shunt (test was negative). Lucy got to come home on Saturday afternoon. So.. She made the 15 hour (thanks to holiday traffic) trip to Virginia with us! She's been on a handful of medication and a regulated diet since Saturday and I'm happy to say she's doing GREAT!! (Parvo = Bad thing number one. Second Hospitalization = bad thing number two.)
On Monday, my furniture was delivered around 8:30 and the movers were gone by 12ish. That was pretty quick and painless (except for the attitude attached to the driver. shew.)-- until I turned over my
brand new couch to put it back together -- only to find out it was broken.... (bad thing number three.)
Tuesday -- I spent all day chasing my tail. I went to the circuit court clerk's office to find out my gun permit won't transfer to VA, to the library to print some things since my internet wasn't hooked up, and finally to Farm Bureau for insurance. All in all -- good day.
Wednesday --- I spent the entire morning sitting at the DMV to transfer my title, register for tags, and get a new driver's license. That afternoon I discovered I'd lost a $100 rebate card --- awesome. Bad thing number four.
Today (Thursday) -- Mom and I planned on staying at the townhouse all day to wait for the Verizon man to set up my cable/internet/phone. Praise the Lord!! I've been without DVR for two weeks... Okay, fine. I know that sounds materialistic, but whatever. :) So around lunch time, I'm upstairs getting my things unpacked when I hear my mom frantically yelling for me to come downstairs. When I make my way to the kitchen, I find myself standing in my new swimming pool. The dishwasher was pouring water all over the kitchen floor. It got under the tile, under the cabinets, the whole nine yards. (Bad thing number five.)
I'm hoping that five is the end of the line for the "bad things"... six will just make me angry. :)
On the
upside --- I'm surrounded by people willing to help. My mom's here for the next week and a half (which makes this transition a lot easier!) and dad's willing to listen to me vent via phone. My family calls/emails/texts regularly to see how I am, check on Lucy, and make sure things are going well! :) Plus, at this point, I'm not quite sure what I'd do without the people who always willing to lend a hand or answer my questions (the important ones and the meaningless ones)-- "where do I go to get my car inspected? recommend a vet? what do I have for lunch? Can you help us move this? Do you have a fan!?" and the list could continue for days. Aside from that, my best friends in the great state of Tennessee are full of encouragement -- that's one of the 3987458645 reasons I love 'em! :) If you fall in any of those categories --- Seriously, Thank You! :)
Be Blessed.
